Steps

  1. Do the dose math first. Our numbers assume infused coconut oil at 10 mg THC per tablespoon, so 2 tablespoons = 20 mg across the batch. If your oil is stronger, use less of it and top the measure back up to 2 tablespoons with plain coconut oil. Never let the batch total exceed 40 mg.
  2. Set out four identical lidded jars on the counter. Tare a kitchen scale — you'll divide by weight later, not by eye.
  3. Warm the milk in a saucepan or the microwave until it's just lukewarm to the finger, well short of steaming. Cold milk will seize the coconut oil into flecks.
  4. Pour the warm milk into a mixing bowl or blender. Add the melted infused coconut oil, the maple syrup and the salt, and whisk hard for a full 30 seconds — or blend 10 seconds — until the fat is fully dispersed and the liquid looks uniform. This is the dose step: everything from here on depends on that oil being evenly spread.
  5. Whisk in the yogurt, if using, until smooth. Add the oats and chia seeds and stir thoroughly, scraping the bottom so no chia clumps settle.
  6. Weigh the full bowl, subtract the bowl's weight, and divide that number by four. Spoon the mixture into the jars until each holds the same weight, stirring the bowl between jars so the oats and oil stay evenly suspended.
  7. Lid the jars and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight; they keep up to 5 days. Stir each jar before eating and add toppings in the morning so nuts and fruit stay fresh.
  8. Label every jar before it goes in the fridge: "Infused overnight oats — 5 mg THC per jar, 20 mg per 4-jar batch. Made [date]. Eat one jar, then wait." Keep them on a shelf where nobody grabs one by accident.
