Where the Guide gets its listings

Every place in the Guide starts as a line in a state licence record. Here is what that means, what we do not know, and how an owner takes over their listing.

No paid placements, no "trending near you." The Guide is built from public cannabis licence records, state by state: the lists regulators publish of who holds an active licence, wired in one state at a time. Where a record does not say something, we do not guess.

What is in it

Licensed cannabis retailers, one listing per storefront, from the states we have wired so far — the live count and the list of states are on the Guide home. Where a state also licenses consumption lounges, those come from the same tables. Every listing is mapped, browsable by state, and searchable by name. A licence that lapses keeps its page, labelled closed, so an old link never lies to you.

What is not in it

An overall rating, or any ranking by rating: member reviews show their own stars once a moderator approves them, and that is all. Hours, for most places. Distance, because the site does not ask where you are — unless you tap the locate button on the map, which only moves the map and stores nothing. Lodging and events, which no record we hold carries yet; the Guide says so rather than inventing them. If a field is blank on a listing, it is blank because we do not know, not because we forgot.

Why we say "licensed" and not "verified"

The record tells us a licence is active. It does not tell us the corner booth is nice. So the Guide's words are licensed, from the state record, mapped, and by state — and nothing more until an owner or the record says so.

If the state record does not say it, the Guide does not say it.

Claiming your listing

Run one of these places? Your listing is already here. Claiming it is free: open the listing and ask, and a moderator checks the request against the state licence record before the listing changes hands. Once it is yours you can add a description, your hours, a menu link, and up to six photos. Until then, a listing's preview picture is the one the business's own website publishes for link previews. The regulator fields — name, address, licence — stay as the state has them. Start at the claim page.
